πŸ₯œ Trail Mixes & Snacks

Small provisions for wandering.

Not every meal needs a table.

Some are eaten on a rock beside the trail,

from a pocket at the edge of a lake,

or beneath a tree while deciding whether to keep going or stay awhile.

This little corner of the Mountain Kitchen is for food made to travel

simple things that tuck easily into a pack and come along for the journey.

Nuts and seeds.

Dried fruits.

Little bites and bars.

Things baked for pockets and wrapped for the road.

πŸ’Ž A Stone for the Journey

Food isn’t the only thing we sometimes tuck into a pocket.

A small stone can become a traveling companion

not because we need it to get us where we’re going,

but because it can remind us how we want to travel.

Grounded.

Curious.

Courageous.

Awake to what is around us.

Visit πŸ’Ž The Litharium to carry along the way.

🌿 Leave a Little Room in Your Pack

Sometimes the trail sends something home with you.

If you may be gathering along the way,

tuck a few simple harvesting tools into your pack:

Brown paper bags

A Sharpie

A small pair of scissors

The paper bags allow gathered plants to breathe,

and the Sharpie lets you label what you gathered,

where you found it,

and the date before memory has a chance to rearrange the details.

And the scissors help us harvest deliberately rather than pulling or damaging more of

the plant than we intend.

Take only what you recognize with certainty,

only where gathering is permitted,

and only what the place can comfortably spare.

Leave enough for the plant.

Leave enough for the wildlife.

Leave enough for the next wanderer.

You never know what the mountain may introduce you to. 🌿

🌿 Meet the Trail

And perhaps the most important provision is simply attention.

Notice what grows beside the path.

Notice the stone beneath your boot.

Notice the weather changing.

Notice where you stop without quite knowing why.

The trail has its own way of introducing us to things.
