Art begins with paying attention.
Not every idea becomes a painting.
Sometimes it becomes a sketch.
Sometimes a piece of fiber art.
Sometimes a sculpture, a photograph, or something assembled from natural materials gathered along the way.
Every piece begins the same way—with curiosity, careful observation, and a willingness to listen.
Creating is simply another way I continue my conversation with the living world.
Original Works
Every original piece is created slowly and intentionally.
Some are paintings.
Some are mixed media.
Some combine natural materials, texture, and found objects.
Others haven’t introduced themselves yet.
Whatever form they take, each piece is one of a kind and carries its own story.
Every painting begins with a moment that asked me to stop.
Sometimes it’s light falling across an old fence.
Sometimes it’s the curve of a feather.
Sometimes it’s a weathered stone, a mountain stream, or the expression on an animal’s face.
The longer I look, the more extraordinary ordinary life becomes.
Painting is simply my way of staying in that conversation.

I create because the more closely I look, the more there is to discover.

I don’t always know what a work will become when it begins.
I simply try to follow where curiosity leads.
