💡 A Root Isn’t a Chain
A root isn’t a chain.
A chain holds us somewhere by preventing us from leaving.
A root holds us somewhere by creating relationship.
A chain says,
You cannot leave.
A root says,
There is something here worth staying connected to.
Roots are not motionless.
They reach.
They explore.
They follow water.
They respond to the ground they are actually growing in.
Perhaps being rooted was never supposed to mean being trapped.
Perhaps it simply means finding ground where we are free to remain.
Ground where the body can settle.
Where there is enough.
Where nothing is chasing us.
Where we can plant something because we expect to be there when it blooms.
Maybe that is what home really is.
Not the place we cannot leave.
The place we no longer need to escape.
And perhaps one day we look at something we planted years before and realize—
I’m still here.
So is it.
Look what we grew.
Apparently,
roots and chains were never the same thing at all.
