Eagle Tree February 2018

Some days the mountain gives you exactly what you came looking for.

Other days it offers something you never imagined.

I counted twenty-two bald eagles resting in this cottonwood.

Twenty-two.

For most people, it might have been a number.

For me…

it felt like a conversation.

The photograph barely captures them,

but I remember standing there in complete silence,

afraid that if I moved,

the moment might disappear.

Some gifts are too large for a camera.

This was one of them.

The mountain has a way of reminding us that wonder doesn’t always arrive with fanfare.

Sometimes it appears quietly,

perched in the branches, waiting for someone willing to stop long enough to notice.

From the Keeper

There are moments that ask nothing of us except our presence.

No photograph.

No explanation.

No proof.

Only gratitude.

Those are often the moments I remember most.
