🩶Blue Sapphire
A Guardian does not always protect by building a wall.
Sometimes it protects by allowing us to see clearly what is true.
The Keeper of the True North
There are moments when we need protection from what surrounds us.
And there are moments when what needs protecting
is the quiet knowing within us.
Blue Sapphire belongs to the second.
Its blue can carry the depth of evening sky,
deep water,
or the blue that appears just before darkness settles completely.
It has long been associated with wisdom,
truth,
fidelity,
and clear thought.
Within the Litharium,
Blue Sapphire stands as a Guardian of something quieter:
the inner compass.
💎 Born of Corundum
Sapphire belongs to the mineral family corundum.
In its pure form,
corundum is colorless.
The extraordinary blues of sapphire arise primarily when
trace amounts of iron
and titanium become part of the crystal as it forms.
That seems rather beautiful to me.
Something present only in a small amount
can change the expression of the whole.
Sapphire is also remarkably durable
second only to diamond on the Mohs hardness scale.
Its strength is real.
But its character does not feel hard.
It feels steadfast.
🩶 How Blue Sapphire Works With Us
Blue Sapphire has traditionally been associated with wisdom,
discernment,
truth,
loyalty,
and clear communication.
I think of it as a stone for the moments when there are many voices in the room
including our own.
Fear has a voice.
Habit has a voice.
Expectation has a voice.
Other people certainly have voices.
And somewhere among them is the quieter voice that simply says:
This is true for me.
Blue Sapphire does not need to make that voice louder.
Its character asks us to become quiet enough to hear it.
🧭 The Keeper of the True North
A compass does not tell us where we must go.
It gives us a point of reference.
We can wander.
Explore.
Change direction.
Take the long road.
Turn around entirely.
True North remains where it is.
Blue Sapphire carries that kind of steadiness.
Not certainty about every decision.
Not an answer to every question.
Simply a place within ourselves from which we can orient again.
We do not always need to know the road ahead.
Sometimes we only need to remember which way is ours.
📝 A Note from the Keeper
I don’t think truth always arrives as certainty.
Sometimes it is much quieter than that.
A feeling that something fits.
A small internal yes.
A recognition that appears before we have words to explain it.
We can spend a great deal of time looking outside ourselves
for someone to tell us which direction is right.
Blue Sapphire reminds me to check the compass I arrived with.
Others may offer maps.
They may point out roads I haven’t seen.
They may even walk beside me for a while.
But eventually,
I am the one who must feel where my own feet want to go.
The compass does not choose the journey.
It simply helps us remember where we are.
