♋ Tidebone

The tide moves.

The bones remember.

Some pieces begin at the bead table.

This one began on a beach in South Carolina.

At its center hangs a piece of white coral I picked up from the shore and carried home with me.

I didn’t know then what it would eventually become.

It simply came home.

Now it rests among black coral, red coral disks, and black shell—materials that seem to return it to the language of the water.

The black creates the deeper current.

The red brings warmth and pulse.

And at the center is that small piece of white coral, still carrying the memory of another shore.

The Tide Keeper

Tidebone walks with someone who understands that movement and stability do not oppose one another.

The tide advances and retreats.

Shorelines change.

Things are carried away, and sometimes something unexpected is returned.

Yet beneath all that movement, something remains.

Perhaps that is what this little piece of coral was waiting to become:

not something removed from where it belonged,

but something carried forward into another belonging.

One of a Kind

♋ Cancer

Cancer belongs to the waters of memory, home, protection, and belonging.

Tidebone carries those themes almost literally: something found at the edge of the water, carried home, kept, and eventually given another life.

It does not ask us to remain where we began.

It reminds us that home can be something we carry.
