💡Rat Walk
The Day I Tried to Walk a Rat
The rats originally belonged to my son, but when he moved away they stayed with me.
Naturally, I decided they needed walks.
I carefully made a tiny leash.
It couldn’t be leather or fabric—they would chew right through it—so I used metal.
I was feeling rather pleased with my engineering.
The first rat looked at me…
…stretched himself impossibly long…
…became remarkably skinny…
…and slipped completely out of the harness in one dramatic violent motion.
I apologized.
The leash retired that very day.
The rat considered the experiment a complete success.
